We have performed a comparison of laser (LsOPM) and lamp (LpOPM) pumped cesium vapor magnetometers. Although the LsOPM operated 50% above its shot-noise limit we found an intrinsic sensitivity of 15 fT/√Hz and 25 fT/√Hz for the LsOPM and the LpOPM, respectively. Two modes of operation, viz. the phase-stabilized and the self-oscillating modes, were investigated and found to yield a similar performance. We have compared the performance of the LsOPM and the LpOPM directly by simultaneous…

Compact, high-sensitivity atomic magnetometer utilizing the light-narrowing effect and in-phase excitation.
A high-sensitivity optically pumped atomic magnetometer working in the geomagnetic range utilizing the light-narrowing effect and in-phase excitation is described, which has the advantages of large dynamic range, high performance of low-frequency stabilization, high response speed, and compact size.
Noise reduction in optically pumped magnetometer assemblies
In most magnetic field measurement configurations the resolution of optically pumped magnetometers is limited by the shot noise of the pump light. However, in practice this noise limit is overwhelmed
Modulation-free portable laser frequency and power stabilization system.
The performance of laser-based instruments heavily depends on the stability of their laser source. Some instruments, such as the Cs-4He magnetometer, even require the frequency stabilization and the
An Optically Pumped Magnetometer Working in the Light-Shift Dispersed Mz Mode

Characteristics and performance of an intensity-modulated optically pumped magnetometer in comparison to the classical M(x) magnetometer.
The intensity-modulated pumping shows several advantages: better noise-limited magnetic field sensitivity, misalignment between pumping and spin synchronization is excluded, and magnetometer arrays without any cross-talk can be easily set up.
Radio-frequency atomic magnetometers : an analysis of interrogation regimes
An atomic magnetometer is a sensor which is used to measure a magnetic field through its interaction with the atomic sample. Significant research into atomic magnetometry has led to the development
