Two cultivars of chokeberry - ‘Nero’ and Polish ‘Galicjanka’ are sold in Poland. Sometimes, there are also present the seedlings of ‘Viking’ and ‘Hugin’ cultivars. In the experiment some morphological characteristics, the quality of fruits and chemical composition of four chokeberry cultivars (‘Galicjanka’, ‘Hugin’, ‘Nero’, ‘Viking’) were compared. Chokeberry plants were grown at the Experimental Station of Pomology Department at the West Pomeranian University of…

Phenolic Content, Antioxidant Capacity and Quality of Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) Products.
TLDR
The study indicates that there are significant differences in the quality, phenolic content and antioxidant capacity among examined products.
Description of plants and assessment of chemical properties of three species from the Amelanchier genus
TLDR
The aim of the study was to characterise three species of plants of Amelanchier, which are suitable for cultivation in Szczecin and do not indicate any frost damage nor symptoms of disease or pest infestation.
Effects of Fertilization on Vegetative Growth, Yield and Fruit Quality of Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa Elliot)
TLDR
Statistics showed that factors of quantity and the manner of fertilization influence significantly most of examined parameters in this research (P ≤ 0.05).
Biochemical changes in two Aronia melanocarpa cultivars’ berries during the harvest season
TLDR
Overall, early harvested fruits contained higher levels of moisture, vitamin C, and phenolics compounds, although the last crops provided less acidic fruits, with higher total soluble solids and anthocyanins content.
Influence of foliar fertilisation with calcium fertilisers on the firmness and chemical composition of two highbush blueberry cultivars
Maintaining the high quality of fruits after harvest, which amongst other things is determined by firmness, is the aim producers strive after. Calcium, which fruits can be enriched with also in an
Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa(Michx.) Elliot) Fruits and Functional Drinks Differ Significantly in Their Chemical Composition and Antioxidant Activity
Black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) fruits are among the richest sources of polyphenols and anthocyanins in plant kingdom and suitable raw material for production of functional foods. The
Effects of Weather Conditions on Phenolic Content and Antioxidant Capacity in Juice of Chokeberries (Aronia melanocarpa L.)
Abstract Chokeberries are a subject of numerous studies due to a high phenolic compound content, antioxidant properties and potential positive influence on the health. Effects of weather conditions
The Effect of Plant Additives on the Stability of Polyphenols in Dried Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) Fruit
TLDR
In the study, chokeberry fruit was influenced by a suspension of spices, including clove and cinnamon, and subsequently dried using the freeze-drying, convection, and microwave radiation methods, concluded to be the most desirable method of drying, which preserves the largest amount of polyphenols.
Actinidia (Mini Kiwi) Fruit Quality in Relation to Summer Cutting
TLDR
To improve fruit quality, an additional summer pruning of the plants was performed at the time of ripening, which caused changes in the polyphenol content and the level of anthocyanins increased and the antioxidant capacity increased.
Description and assessment of chemical properties of fruits of the chocolate vine (five-leaf Akebia) Akebia quinata (Houtt.) Decne and dead man's fingers Decaisnea insignis (Griff.) Hokk.f. and Thomson, grown in Szczecin and in the Arboretum in Glinna (northwestern Poland)
TLDR
The determinations included the size, color, reflactance and chemical composition of fruits harvested from shrubs grown in Szczecin and in the Arboretum in Glinna near Szcz Cecin, which revealed that Akebia quinata bears significantly heavier fruits than Decaisnea insignis fruits, despite similar length of fruits from both species.

Changes in fruit quality in black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) during maturation
TLDR
Black chokeberry fruits are rich in anthocyanins and can be used as a raw material for the production of natural food colourants and variation among sampling dates in total acidity was negatively correlated with variation in berry weight which suggests that dilution by water uptake affectstotal acidity.
The effect of mineral fertilization on nutritive value and biological activity of chokeberry fruit
The aim of the study was to assess whether an extra fertilization with manganese, commercial fertilizer Alkalin (N, K and Si), and combined treatment (manganese + Alkalin) affect the chemical
Aronia melanocarpa phenolics and their antioxidant activity
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate small and high molecular phenolics (tannins) and antioxidant activity of Aronia melanocarpa berries, juice and pomace in order to find new potential
Phenolic content, antioxidant capacity, radical oxygen species scavenging and lipid peroxidation inhibiting activities of extracts of five black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliot) cultivars

Influence of mineral fertilization on selected physical features and chemical composition of aronia fruit
A b s t r a c t . Aronia melanocarpa (Michx) Elliot, called also black chokeberry, is a species with lower cultivation requirements within the Rosaceae family. The purpose of the study was to assess
Characterization of anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins in some cultivars of Ribes, Aronia, and Sambucus and their antioxidant capacity.
TLDR
Among the berries studied in this paper and in berries in general, chokeberry has the highest total anthocyanin concentrations [1480 mg/100 g of fresh weight (FW], whereas the lowest total anthOCyanin concentration in theberries studied was found in the gooseberry cv.
Chemical composition, phenolics, and firmness of small black fruits
Black fruits either cultivated as chokeberry ( Aronia melaanocarpa (Michx) Elliot), highbush blueberry 'Duke' ( Vaccinium corymbosum L.), lowbush blueberry 'Putte' ( Vaccinium corymbosum x Vaccinium
Antioxidant activity of plant extracts containing phenolic compounds.
TLDR
High activities were found in tree materials, especially in willow bark, spruce needles, pine bark and cork, and birch phloem, and in some medicinal plants including heather, bog-rosemary, willow herb, and meadowsweet and potato peel and beetroot peel extracts showed strong antioxidant effects.
