The clinical efficacy and safety of timiperone, a new butyrophenone derivative, on chronic schizophrenia was compared with clocapramine by the double-blind method using a total of eighty-eight patients, consisting of forty-four patients in each group. In the final global improvement rating, the global improvement rating in each week and the general usefulness rating, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups. However, in the global improvement rating in each… Expand

TLDR
According to the improvement rate in psychotic symptoms, clocapramine tended to be superior to haloperidol for motor retardation, scanty speech and disturbance of thought, and the frequency of side-effects was lower with clocabramine than with hal operidol. Expand
Prophylactic effects of neuroleptics in symptom-free schizophrenics: A comparative dose-response study of timiperone and sulpiride
TLDR
By comparing the dose-response curves of four drugs tested in the same fashion, haloperidol and sulpiride were superior to propericiazine and timiperone because they displayed a wider dose range for the maintenance treatment of remitted schizophrenic outpatients. Expand
Plasma concentrations of timiperone and its reduced metabolite in the patients on timiperone
Plasma levels of timiperone (TIM) and reduced timiperone (RTIM) were determined in 10 schizophrenic patients who were treated with TIM. Activities of ketone reductase in red blood cells (RBC) wereExpand
Carbonyl reduction of timiperone in human liver cytosol.
TLDR
This in vitro study using human liver enzymes was undertaken in order to compare the mechanism of metabolic reduction of timiperone, a potent butyrophenone neuroleptic, with that of haloperidol, and found that metabolic clearance of tim Piperone by carbonyl reductase may be similar to or slightly higher than for hal operidol. Piperidine-Based Nonfused Biheterocycles With C–N and C–C Coupling
Abstract This chapter describes methods of synthesis, the pharmacological properties, and the use of derivatives of piperidine-based nonfused biheterocycles with C–N and C–C coupling.Expand
Typical neuroleptics in child and adolescent psychiatry
This paper reviews the use of typical (“old”) neuroleptics in the treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders. Very few methodologically sound papers have been published in the field. ItExpand

TLDR
It is concluded that typical neuroleptics should be used sparingly and only in severe and incapacitating disorders such as some psychotic conditions and handicaping tic disorders. Expand
