BackgroundWarm water sitz bath is advised for a variety of anorectal disorders. However, preparation of the sitz bath is sometimes difficult for patients. As an alternative to the sitz bath, we have adapted a water spray method. A randomized, controlled study was conducted to determine if the water spray method has similar effects to the sitz bath in the post-hemorrhoidectomy period and it is easy to carry out.MethodsA total of 120 patients were randomly assigned to water spray or sitz bath…
Effects of Warm Water Sitz Bath on Post-Hemorrhoidectomy Symptoms
Background: Hemorrhoid is considered one of the biggest problems all over the world. Hemorrhoidectomy is the most effective treatment method for advanced stages hemorrhoids. Aim of the study: To
The effectiveness of sitz bath in managing adult patients with anorectal disorders: A systematic review.
TLDR
There was no strong evidence to support the use of sitz bath for pain relief, and accelerate fissure or wound healing among adult patients with anorectal disorders, however no complications were reported.

TLDR
Clinically, anal fissure is the superficial linear tear or ulcer in the squamous epithelium of the anal canal located distal to the dentate line generally occurring in the posterior midline due to the hard faecal matter and also associated with other conditions like acute diarrhoea and pregnancy.
Xiaozhi decoction reduced posthemorrhoidectomy pain and analgesic medication consumption: a prospective study
TLDR
XZD could effectively relieve postoperative pain and reduce analgesic medication consumption after hemorrhoidectomy and it was found that patients in the XZD group consumed significantly less analgesics than the control group.
The effectiveness of sitz bath in managing adult patients with anorectal disorders: A systematic review.
TLDR
This review will exclude postpartum patients who underwent episiotomy and the various administration methods, water temperature, frequency to soak inside the tub will be included in the review.
Effectiveness of the Sitz bath in managing adult patients with anorectal disorders.
TLDR
There was no strong evidence to support the use of the Sitz bath for pain relief and to accelerate fissure or wound healing among adult patients with anorectal disorders, however, theSitz bath may be prescribed for patients' satisfaction.
The Effect of Early Warm Plastic Bag Application on Postoperative Pain after Hemorrhoidectomy: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial
TLDR
Local thermal application appears to be a safe and effective method for pain relief after hemorrhoidectomy, with significantly lower postoperative VAS scores among the warm plastic bag group as compared with the control group.
A physiotherapy treatment after hemorroidectomy and fistulectomy: A case report
TLDR
The results showed that the pain medication needed just for 4 days and the patient returned to work within 3 days, and the faster improvement of the pain and scar healing and complete recovery took about 4 weeks, compared with previous studies.
Effect of Electronic Toilet System (Bidet) on Anorectal Pressure in Normal Healthy Volunteers: Influence of Different Types of Water Stream and Temperature
TLDR
It is indicated that, in addition to cleansing effect, bidet could be used to reduce anal resting pressure in the same manner as the traditional warm sitz bath under the conditions of low or medium water jet pressure, a warm water temperature, and a wide type water jet.
Pelvic Pain Associated with a Coloproctologic Etiology
TLDR
In summary, pelvic pain involves many visceral organs and should be approached by a multidisciplinary team in order to reach the best results in diagnosis and treatments.

Effects of Warm Water Sitz Bath on Symptoms in Post-anal Sphincterotomy in Chronic Anal Fissure—A Randomized and Controlled Study
TLDR
Patients after sphincterotomy for anal fissure receiving sitz bath experienced similar levels of pain when compared with those not receiving sitZ bath, however, they reported a significant relief in anal burning and a marginally better satisfaction score and no reported adverse side effects.
Sitz Bath: Where Is the Evidence? Scientific Basis of a Common Practice
TLDR
A review of the literature demonstrated a lack of scientific data to support the use of sitz bath in the treatment of anorectal disorders and further studies are needed to investigate whether this time consuming recommendation is beneficial to patients.

TLDR
Analysis of pain scale scores using a two-way analysis of variance with replications showed that cold sitz baths were significantly more effective in relieving perineal pain.
Perianal burn as a complication of hemorrhoid treatment caused by hot water sitz bath.

TLDR
Why anorectal pain is relieved by sitting in a warm-water bath was investigated and pain relief after Sitz bath seems to be the result of internal anal-sphincter relaxation with a resulting diminution of the rectal neck pressure.
Hot or cold in anal pain?
TLDR
Wet heat applied to the anal sphincter apparatus significantly and reproducibly decreased resting anal canal pressures over time, and therefore was likely to benefit patients after anorectal operations and those with anoreCTal pain.
Role of warm water bath in inducing micturition in postoperative urinary retention after anorectal operations.

TLDR
Micturition on sitting in a warm water bath seems to be initiated by reflex internal urethral sphincter relaxation, and a thermo-sphincter reflex is likely to be involved.
Hemorrhoidectomy: Open or Closed Technique?
TLDR
Although the healing time is longer, the open technique is more advantageous with respect to shorter operating time, less discomfort in the early postoperative period, and lower morbidity rate.
