SummaryHighly soluble, acidic, carbohydrate-rich proteins have been isolated from the serum of 6 animal species by a fractionation procedure employing ammonium sulfate. All of the preparations contained large amounts of hexose, hexosamine, and “sialic acid,” and were not coagulated by heat.
