The pharmacokinetic properties of metronidazole and satranidazole were studied in the golden hamster (Mesocricetus auratus), at a dose of 80 mg/kg po. Blood and liver samples were collected at frequent time intervals and assayed for metronidazole and satranidazole by HPLC. Satranidazole exhibited significantly higher plasma concentrations than metronidazole at 1 and 2 h post-dose, but the comparative Cmax values were not significantly different. The satranidazole plasma elimination half-life of… Expand
Cytotoxic effect of amide derivatives of trifluoromethionine against the enteric protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica.
TLDR
Improved effectiveness of TFM derivatives against E. histolytica infection is demonstrated and the mechanisms underlining the mode of action of these compounds are elucidated. Expand
Randomized, Single-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Multicenter Trial to Compare the Efficacy and Safety of Metronidazole and Satranidazole in Patients With Amebic Liver Abscess
TLDR
Despite having a similar efficacy, satranidazoles showed a far lower incidence of side effects and had a significantly better tolerance than Metronidazole. Expand
Application of validated RP ? HPLC method for estimation of pharmacokineticparameters of novel satranidazole formulation
Satranidazole, a BCS class II antiprotozoal drug has poor solubility. In vitro dissolution studies have demonstrated enhanced solubility and improved dissolution rate of satranidazole solidExpand
Development and Validation of Stability Indicating RP-HPLC Method for Estimation of Satranidazole from Its Formulation
TLDR
The validated RP-HPLC method was found to be specific, linear, precise, and accurate and can be successfully employed for the assay of Satranidazole taste masked granules coated with Eudragit E100 and marketed tablets. Expand
Development and Validation of a Discriminating In Vitro Dissolution Method for Oral Formulations Containing Satranidazole
The development of a meaningful dissolution procedure for drug products with limited water solubility has been a challenge to the pharmaceutical industry. Satranidazole (BCS Class II drug) is a newExpand
Animal Models of Entamoeba histolytica Infection
TLDR
This chapter presents animal models of Entamoeba histolytica infection, and the hamster model of amebic liver abscess is used to test the anti-amebic efficacy of a number of new compounds. Expand
Comparative evaluation of satranidazole and ornidazole effectiveness in the treatment of chronic periodontal diseases along with mechanical debridement
TLDR
The results concluded that ornidazoles is better than satranidazole in treating periodontal diseases and when used alone and with scaling and root planning in reducing microbial infections. Expand
Development and Validation of a Stability‐Indicating HPTLC‐Densitometric Method for Satranidazole

Development and Evaluation of Taste Masked Granular Formulation of Satranidazole by Melt Granulation Technique
TLDR
The purpose of this research was to mask the bitter taste of Satranidazole by coating complexation with low melting point wax and Eudragit EPO and the taste masked granules of optimized batch showed 87.65% release of drug in 1 hr which is comparable to that of marketed tablet formulation. Expand
