The quality characteristics and proximate composition of the eggs of quail and guinea fowl were compared. The eggs of the two species had an oval conical shape with blunt and pointed ends. The shape indices of both the eggs had no statistical difference. As very well apparent, guinea fowl eggs (46.65g) were much heavy than the Quail eggs (10.34g). Proportion of yolk to total egg weight was higher in quail (31.4%) than guinea fowl (30.6%) Similarly, albumen content was higher in quail (61.2… Expand

Comparison of the nutritional value of egg yolk and egg albumin from domestic chicken, guinea fowl and hybrid chicken.
The present study was conducted to compare the nutritional and physical quality of egg yolk and egg white of birds from three different genotypes (domestic chicken, hybrid chicken and guinea fowl).Expand
Effect of age of Japanese quail on physical and biochemical characteristics of eggs
TLDR
From the consumers’ point of view, eggs from older birds appeared to be the most valuable, at the same time, as the quail ages, the antibacterial properties of eggs deteriorate, which may indicate a shorter shelf life. Expand
Comparison of Egg Quality Characteristics of Different Poultry Species
TLDR
Internal quality and functional quality traits from Sri Lankan village chicken eggs and Shaver brown eggs were decreased with the increasing storage period (3 weeks) at 10 oC and quail egg has the highest shape index and duck egg white has the high viscosity and foam stability. Expand
INFLUENCE OF STRAINS ON EGG QUALITY TRAITS OF GUINEA FOWL (Numidameleagris)
TLDR
It can be concluded that Belgium strain of guinea fowl had higher values for significantly affected traits and that some parameter (egg quality traits) can indicate each other. Expand
Egg Productivity of Guinea ‐ Fowls ( Numida meleagris )
  • 2020
Guinea-fowl egg production has not been developed worldwide. The reason for that is not so much the lack of traditional egg-laying industry rather than the pursuit of higher meat yields of that fowlExpand
Comparative analysis of the external and internal egg quality in different pure chicken breeds
TLDR
The results showed that the egg weight and egg length of New Hampshire were significantly higher (P 0.05) than that of tested dual chicken breeds and albumen height was significantly higher in egg shell thickness and strength. Expand
EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL EGG QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF THREE VARIETIES OF HELMETED GUINEA FOWL (NUMIDAMELEAGRIS) IN NIGERIA
TLDR
The result of the mean external egg quality traits showed that the Pearl and Lavender varieties are similarly longer and wider than the Black variety, however, the Black variety however outperformed the Pearl variety in shell thickness. Expand
Determination of Phenotypic Correlations Between Internal and External Quality Traits of Guinea Fowl Eggs
TLDR
The results indicated that egg weight influences external egg quality traits of quinea fowl and the positive correlations obtained among the eggquality traits indicated that they can be improved phenotypically through selection. Expand
Comparative Evaluation of Some Properties of Chicken and Japanese Quail Eggs Subjected to Different Storage Methods
TLDR
Based on the various eggs storage quality indices evaluated on eggs stored under different conditions, quail eggs stored in oil were able to retain their  interior quality than  in other storage conditions, while chicken eggs storing in the refrigerator had better retention of quality than in otherstorage conditions at the end of the six-week storage period. Storage Stability of Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) Eggs at Room Temperature
TLDR
It was concluded from this study that shelf life of unrefrigerated quail eggs would not be greater than 14 days in summer and that washing of the eggs at farms should be avoided. Expand
Influence of stocking density and layer age on production traits and egg quality in Japanese quail
TLDR
Body weight gain, age at 50% egg production, mortality, hen‐day egg production and food conversion values showed significant improvement with proportionate increase in cage space per layer, and egg weight gradually increased with age. Expand
