Comparative Study on the Effect of Fucoidan and Levamisole on Some Selective Biochemical and Hematological Parameters in Heat Stress Rabbits

title={Comparative Study on the Effect of Fucoidan and Levamisole on Some Selective Biochemical and Hematological Parameters in Heat Stress Rabbits},
  author={Mohamed E El-Boshy and Nany Nasr El-Deean},
This study was planned to investigate the effect of fucoidan and levamisole on some hematological and biochemical parameters in growing rabbits, in both normal and heat stress conditions. One month aged rabbits were orally treated with fucoidan at a dose of 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight daily for 4 weeks and levamisole with 8 mg/kg as a single dose every 2 weeks. This study was conducted at winter and summer. Fucoidan and levamisole treated groups returned the increased RBCs count and stress… Expand

The hepato- protective Effect of Stem Cells and Levamisole against Carbontetrachloride induced Liver Fibrosis
Results showed that injection of CCL4 lead to significant increase in activity of hepatic enzymes (AST, ALT, ALP, ALP) and Bilirubin level while it decreased serum total protein, albumin, IL6, Phagocytic index, PhAgocytic %, IgG and IgM. Expand

Effects of levamisole on the immune response and disease resistance of Clarias fuscus
Administration of 300 mg levamisole kg − 1 dry diet to Clarias fuscus should be optimum for stimulating nonspecific defence mechanisms and the specific immune response against Acinetobacter lwoffii. Expand
The effects of fucoidan extracts on CCl4-induced liver injury
There was a significant decrease in incidences of necrosis and cirrhosis in the liver tissue of FE-treated rats, implying that FE possessed antioxidant properties against CCl4-induced oxidative stress. Expand
Fucoidan inhibits the development of proteinuria in active Heymann nephritis
The results indicated that fucoidan has a renoprotective effect on active Heymann neph arthritis and is a promising therapeutic agent for nephritis. Expand
Haematological and serum biochemical profiles of buffalo heifers as influenced by levamisole
Serum was separated from blood samples of six healthy buffalo heifers (1–1.5 years) on day 0 (control) and after 1, 7 and 14 days of levamisole (15 mg/kg body weight) administered orally. SignificantExpand
Effects of fucoidan on chronic renal failure in rats.
Fucoidan (100 or 200 mg/kg, orally) significantly decreased elevated serum creatinine and urea nitrogen levels and Histopathological changes of renal tubules and interstitium were markedly alleviated by fucoidan and the mesangial areas were greatly reduced. Expand
Fucoidan partly prevents CCl4-induced liver fibrosis
Results indicate that fucoidan might be a promising anti-fibrotic agent possessing dual functions, namely, protection of hepatocytes and inhibition of hepatic stellate cell proliferation. Expand
Effects of Heat Stress on Some Blood Parameters in Broilers
The exposure of the broilers to acute heat stress resulted in decreased monocyte and lymphocyte proportions whereas the proportion of eosinophil and the hematocrit values were not affected. Expand
Influence of summer stress on some haematological, immunological and endocrine parameters of rabbits.
There was no change in progesterone level in male animals, but concentration increased in females during hot-humid environment, and hot and humid climate characteristically increased few hematological responses, progester one concentration whereas antibody response was decreased. Expand
Defensive effects of a fucoidan from brown alga Undaria pinnatifida against herpes simplex virus infection.
Results suggested that oral intake of the fucoidan might take the protective effects through direct inhibition of viral replication and stimulation of both innate and adaptive immune defense functions. Expand
Sulfated fucans, fresh perspectives: structures, functions, and biological properties of sulfated fucans and an overview of enzymes active toward this class of polysaccharide.
The availability of purified fucans and fucan fractions with simple, but varied structures, in conjunction with the development of new enzymatic tools, demonstrate that the biological properties of sulfation are not only a simple function of their charge density but also are determined by detailed structural features.
