The adsorption of the nonionic surfactants Triton X-100 and C12E7 on predominantly hydrophobic polystyrene latex particles has been examined as a function of surfactant concentration by measuring the hydrodynamic radius by dynamic light scattering and adsorption isotherms by a surface tension technique. The adsorption behavior of these materials differs significantly and is related to the structures of the surfactant “tails”. Adsorption of TX-100 most probably occurs in an approximately…
Determination of the Adsorption Isotherm of the Nonionic Surfactant Triton X-405 on Polystyrene Latex Particles Using1H NMR
Abstract 1 H NMR is found to be a suitable method for determining the adsorption of the nonionic surfactant Triton X-405 on polystyrene particles dispersed in D 2 O. In the NMR spectra, free Triton
Adsorption of Ionic Surfactants on Solid Particles Determined by Zeta-Potential Measurements: Competitive Binding of Counterions
A method for determining the equilibrium adsorption of an ionic surfactant on oppositely charged solid particles is proposed. Data from ζ -potential measurements are processed to obtain the
The Adsorption of Hydroxyl Mixed Ether Nonionic Polymeric Surfactants at Air/Water and Solid/Water Interfaces: Influence of Surfactant Molecular Structure
This paper reports the adsorption of four nonionic Hydroxyl Mixed Ether (HME) polymeric surfactants at air/water and solid/water interfaces. The characteristics of these nonionic surfactants,
Surface Activity of Newly Nonionic Surfactants at Air/Water Interface and their Interaction with Clay and Teflon
Abstract The surface activity of newly nonionic hydroxyl mixed ether surfactants HMEn at air/water and solid/water interfaces was studied as a function of ethoxylation degree (n-value). The
Adsorption of Nonionic Surfactant from Its Aqueous Solution onto Commercial Rubber
Abstract Adsorption of Ethoxylated Nonyl Phenol (ENP) surfactant from its aqueous solution onto a commercial tire cutting from different sites. Outer Peristalitic (O.P.), Outer Smouth (O.S.), and
Influence of Surfactants Synergism on the Adsorption Behavior at Air/Water and Solid/Water Interfaces
The influence of synergistic interaction between sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and N,N-dimethyldodecan-1-amine oxide (DDAO) on their adsorption at air/water and solid/water interfaces at 20°C is
Sorption characteristics of the nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 in soil contaminated with diesel.
The adsorption of a surfactant to solid surfaces can lower the concentration of free surfactant in aqueous solutions. If the degree of adsorption is high, then surfactant concentration could drop
One source of water pollutions is caused by the high use of surface-active agents (surfactants) by industries and households. As a consequence, it is required to remove such substances from the
