In the present study, monogenean infestations were investigated on the gills of the European seabass Dicentrarchus labrax grown in culture cages located at Yakakent coast of the Black Sea and Milas coast of the Aegean Sea. Parasitological investigations were conducted simultaneously at both localities during September 2014, February and April 2015. While a total of 100 fish specimens were examined from Yakakent samples whose average length was 19.37 cm, a total of 88 fish specimens were…

High-Throughput Sequencing of Environmental DNA as a Tool for Monitoring Eukaryotic Communities and Potential Pathogens in a Coastal Upwelling Ecosystem
DNA metabarcoding was performed to describe putative pathogenic eukaryotic microorganisms in sediment and marine water fractions collected in Galicia from 2016 to 2018 to identify potential pathogens, invasive pathogenic organisms as well as the causative agents of harmful phytoplanktonic blooms.

Diplectanidae (Monogenea) infestations of sea bass,Dicentrarchus labrax (L.), from the Spanish Mediterranean area
Both Diplectanidae exhibited seasonal variations, with maximal infection levels occurring in winter, suggesting continuous parasites recruitment, and infection levels tended to increase with host age.
Incidence and prevalence of Diplectanum aequans and its influence on the fitness of juvenile sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) in the Black Sea
Although D. aequans negatively influenced host's condition factor, the impact was not enough to lead mortalities in the cultured sea bass in the Black Sea.
Gill histopathology of cultured European sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax (L.), infected with Diplectanum aequans (Wagener 1857) Diesing 1958 (Diplectanidae: Monogenea)
In infected fish, cellular changes in the epithelium underlying the bodies of worms were noted typified by an elevation in the number of mucous and rodlet cells and a reduction in the numbers of chloride cells.
Dactylogyrus cornu Linstow, 1878 (Monogenea) Infestations on Vimba (Vimba vimba tenella (Nordmann, 1840)) Caught in the Sinop Region of Turkey in Relation to the Host Factors
The infestation by a relatively less known monogenean, Dactylogyrus cornu Linstow, 1878, was investigated on vimba, Vimba vimba tenella Nordmann, 1840 in a small stream pouring into the Black Sea in
Monogenean Fish Parasites, Their Host Preferences and Seasonal Distributions in the Lower Kizilirmak Delta (Turkey)
Some monogeneans were found to be specific to some host families, especially Ligophorus for Mugilidae and Dactylogyrus for Cyprinidae, and Gyrodactylus cyprini and Ancyrocephalus paradoxus represented new parasite records for Turkey.
First Report of Several Myxosporean (Myxozoa) and Monogenean Parasites from Fish Species off Sinop Coasts of the Black Sea
All parasite species identified are new records for Turkish parasite fauna and S. rebae is a new myxosporean parasite of the Black Sea fauna.
Ege denizinde yeti§tiriciligi yapilan levrek (Dicentrarchus tabrax)'lerin solungaç paraziti Diplectanum aequans (Monogenea: Diplectanidae)'in Tedavisi uzerine denemeler
Monogenean gill parasites of cultured sea bass and their treatment were investigated and only 1 ppm azametifos bath for 2 hours or 50 mg/kg body weight orally application of triklorfon for 5 days were effective to treatment of D. aequans infestations.
Dynamic expression of immune response genes in the sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax, experimentally infected with the monogenean Diplectanum aequans.
The results show that parasitic infection induced a local inflammatory reaction and that reaction was restricted to the site of infection and the absence of relationship between TCR-beta expression and the parasitic infection suggests that the adaptive immune system is not involved in the response against this parasite.
Check list of the parasitofauna in Adriatic sea cage-reared fish
Along with the fast development of aquaculture in the Mediterranean, a number of emerging parasitic diseases was observed in cage-reared fish, which in confined rearing conditions induced mortality
Metazoan Parasites of the European Sea Bass Dicentrarchus labrax (Linnaeus 1758) (Pisces: Teleostei) from Corsica
The environmental conditions in culture systems, in particular increased density of fish, repeated introduction of hosts, homogeneous host populations, fast growth and a potential decrease in genetic diversity have an important effect on commercial production.
