Medical ultrasound images are generally corrupted with different types of noises in its acquisition and transmission. Speckle, a type of locally interrelated multiplicative noise corrupts the medical ultrasound images which in turn makes the visual observation challenging. Speckle noise is generally considered as a key source of noise in ultrasound images and must be filtered out without disturbing the necessary characteristics of an image.
