Compactly Supported Wavelets Derived From Legendre Polynomials: Spherical Harmonic Wavelets

A new family of wavelets is introduced, which is associated with Legendre polynomials. These wavelets, termed spherical harmonic or Legendre wavelets, possess compact support.
