Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is comorbid with substance use disorders (SUDs). However, most epidemiological work on BPD and SUDs has collapsed nonalcohol substances into a drug use disorder indicator, potentially obscuring patterns of association between BPD and individal SUDs.
