From 1978 through 1987, 78 patients with carcinoma of the bladder were treated with combined pre- and postoperative adjuvant radiation therapy. All were given a single dose of pre-operative radiation therapy, 500 cGy, either on the day of or the day before cystectomy. Histological staging on the cystectomy specimens according to the TNM classification system was performed.
