OBJECTIVES Carbapenem resistance in Gram-negative bacteria, mediated by restricted net influx and carbapenem-hydrolysing β-lactamases, is a growing problem. The monosulfactam antibiotic BAL30072 is stable to most carbapenemases, suggesting that it could be complementary to carbapenems.
