Three new phoretic mites from France and Gabon are described. Macrocheles lumareti sp. nov. (from France) was collected on Copris lunaris (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae). Both M. bertrandi sp. nov. and M. ovoidalis sp. nov. (from Gabon) were collected on Stomoxys calcitrans (Diptera). On the basis of morphological characteristics, M. lumareti and M. bertrandi were identified as belonging to the M. glaber and M. muscadomesticae groups respectively. Genetic analyses using an ITS marker confirmed that…

Two synonymy cases within the genus Neoseiulella (Acari: Phytoseiidae): is the molecular evidence so evident?

TLDR
The present study highlights the problems encountered when using only mitochondrial genes to diagnose species and the great mtDNA variations observed appear to reflect population differentiation (linked to plant support) within the family Phytoseiidae, the first time that such high intraspecific differentiation is be observed.

Mesostigmatid mites associated with the dung beetle Copris lunaris (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae)

TLDR
Different species of mites have developed different strategies for dispersal, as shown by their preferential attachment to either the parental or progeny generations of beetles.

Hotspots of new species discovery: new mite species described during 2007 to 2012.

TLDR
The type localities of new mite species described in two journals during the last six years were surveyed to detect hotspots of newmite species discovery to find increased efforts in discovering and describing new species.

Phylogenetic and biogeographic analysis of the genus Phytoseiulus (Acari: Phytoseiidae)

TLDR
The phylogenetic and biogeographic analysis of the genus Phytoseiulus has shown clear trends in North America and Europe over the ages, particularly during the period of the E.coliocentrifuge.

Stomoxys calcitrans (Diptera: muscidae): means and methods of control. Overview

TLDR
To analyze and summarize literature data on the main means and methods of protecting animals from stable flies Stomoxys calcitrans and to reduce their number, researchers are actively studying the possibilities and prospects of using parasitoids, ticks, fungi and individual species bacteria.

Morphological and molecular diagnostics of Phytoseiulus persimilis and Phytoseiulus macropilis (Acari: Phytoseiidae)

TLDR
Molecular results showed a clear delineation between the specimens of P. macropilis and P. persimilis and the usefulness of an automatical molecular and simple diagnostic tool for accurate differentiation of the two species and ensure the morphological diagnostics.

Combination of morphological characters and ITS-sequence to characterize a new species of Macrocheles (Acari: Macrochelidae)

TLDR
This species was found phoretic on three species of dung beetles: Scarabaeus laticollis, Geotrupes mutator and G. spiniger and showed that this species was closely related to M. muscaedomesticae.

Mites of the Macrocheles muscaedomesticae group in Australia (Acarina: Macrochelidae).

TLDR
M. similis is shown to reproduce by thelytokous parthenogenesis, and this property, like the presence of 29 pairs of setae on the dorsal shield, is shows to have appeared more than once in the genus Macrocheles.

Application of ITS-2 sequences as markers for identification and phylogenetic inference within the genus Geomylichus (Acari: Listrophoridae)

TLDR
Differences between the results of this analysis with conventional taxonomy of the group, as well as the overlapping of genetic distances among species, populations, and infrapopulations, suggest that the definition of species within Geomylichus deserves reconsideration.

Mites of the Macrocheles-Glaber Group in Australia (Acarina, Macrochelidae)

The mite genus Macrocheles includes a species-group known as the M. glaber group, which is characterised mainly by the pattern of ornamentation on the sternal shield of the female. Five species in

The suspected synonymy of Kampimodromus hmiminai and Kampimodromus adrianae (Acari: Phytoseiidae): morphological and molecular investigations

TLDR
This study tests the hypothesis of synonymy between these two species, using morphological measurements and molecular typing (mtDNA, cytochrome C oxidase I (COI); the differences in idiosomal setae lengths between K. adrianae and K. hmiminai seem to be large enough to support their species status.

The Australian species of Macrocheles (Acarina : Macrochelidae)

TLDR
The Australian fauna of the mite genus Macrocheles Latreille is revised, and 26 of which are here described as new: M. lyallpurensis nom.

Investigation of the validity of species status of Ixodes dammini (Acari: Ixodidae) using rDNA.

TLDR
Based on maximum parsimony and two distance methods, sequence variation in ITS1 and ITS2 suggests that I. scapularis and I. dammini are not distinct species and that even individuals from geographically isolated locations are very similar.

A review of Glaber-group (s. str.) species of the genus macrocheles (Acari: Macrochelidae), and a discussion of species complexes

The Macrocheles glaber species group (Acari: Macrochelidae) is a species-rich cosmopolitan assemblage of mites, sorne of which are predaceous on eggs and larvae of synanthropic flies. Seven new

Morphological and genetic differentiation between Macrocheles glaber and Macrocheles perglaber (Acarina: Mesostigmata)

TLDR
Two out of the five enzyme loci assayed, α-Gpdh and Got, were found diagnostic between the two species in all the samples tested, allowing the identification of all the specimens, and appear monomorphic for electrophoretically distinct alleles.

Sequence Variation of Ribosomal Internal Transcribed Spacers (ITS) in Commercially Important Phytoseiidae Mites

TLDR
The level of sequence variation of the nuclear ribosomal spacers ITS 1 and 2 and the 5.8S gene in six species of Phytoseiidae mites is investigated and it is found that the value of ITS in taxonomic studies does not extend to the level of the family.
