Polydiacetylene (PDA) is a conductive polymer that has mechanochromism. When the polymer is exposed to mechanical stresses, change in temperature (thermochromism), pH (ionochromism), and so forth, the structural perturbation can be seen by the change in its color. Although it presents interesting electrical and optical properties, the relationship between these signals has rarely been investigated. We studied the correlation between the electrical conductivity and the absorption spectra of PDA…

Quantitative and Anisotropic Mechanochromism of Polydiacetylene at Nanoscale.
TLDR
The data confirm that polydiacetylene reacts only to lateral forces, F//, and disprove the previously claimed hypothesis that the edges of the polymer crystals exhibit higher force sensitivity than the rest of the crystal.
The deconvolution analysis of ATR-FTIR spectra of diacetylene during UV exposure.
Analysis of PDA Dose Curves for the Extraction of Antimicrobial Peptide Properties.
TLDR
The polydiacetylene can be used to determine the net charges and the mode of actions of antimicrobial peptides and detergents via EC50 and Hill coefficients from the colorimetric response-dose curves, which opens a potential for high-throughput peptide screening by functions, which is difficult with the conventional methods.
Mechanism of Polydiacetylene Blue-to-Red Transformation Induced by Antimicrobial Peptides
Thermochromic temperature of polydiacetylene has been reported to coincide with the melting temperature of its lipidic monomers, indicating that the solid-to-liquid phase transition of monomers is ...
Rapid Access to Polychlorodiacetylene Single Crystals through H-Bond Templating and Computations on Helical PDA Oligomers
Until now, only two structures of polyhalogenodiacetylene (PXDA) have been reported in the literature: polydiiododiacetylene (PDIDA) and polydibromodiacetylene (PDBDA). Herein we report the first e...
Recent progress in polydiacetylene mechanochromism
This mini review summarizes recent progress in polydiacetylene (PDA) mechanochromism, with a special focus on the quantitative and nanoscopic data that have emerged in recent years.

Charge-Induced Chromatic Transition of Amino Acid-Derivatized Polydiacetylene Liposomes
TLDR
Considering the reduced degree of freedom for lipid molecules in polymeric liposomes, a rigid, staggered conformational change in polydiacetylene conjugation is suggested as a likely mechanism for the colorimetric transition.
New approach to achieving the potentially high conductivity of polydiacetylene
It is postulated that only the surface layers of the structural formations are doped in single crystals of various polydiacetylenes because of the high packing density of their macromolecules and
Recent Conceptual and Technological Advances in Polydiacetylene-Based Supramolecular Chemosensors
Owing to the color (blue-to-red) and fluorescence (non-to-fluorescent) changes that take place in response to environmental perturbations, conjugated polydiacetylenes (PDAs) have been actively
First observation of mechanochromism at the nanometer scale
A mechanically-induced color transition (''mechanochromism'') in polydiacetylene thin films has been generated at the nanometer scale using the tips of two different scanning probe microscopes. A

Demonstration of an ultra-high mobility organic polymer
Abstract Experimental evidence is given for a high mobility (μ ∼ 20 m2 s−1 V−1) and a low field-saturated drift velocity (v d ∼ 2·2 × 103 m s−1) for carrier motion along a polymer chain.
