Distributed space-time coding (DSTC) is a cooperative scheme for wireless relay networks that achieves full diversity without channel information at the relays. In this paper, the use of maximum-ratio combining (MRC) at multiple-antenna relays in combination with DSTC is proposed. Simulation and theoretical analysis show that the new scheme outperforms the original DSTC. In some network scenarios, it can even improve the scaling of the error rate with the transmit power.
