White LED spectra for general lighting should be designed for high luminous efficacy as well as good color rendering. Multi-chip and phosphor-type white LED models were analyzed by simulation on their color characteristics and luminous efficacy of radiation, compared with those of conventional light sources for general lighting. Color rendering characteristics were evaluated based on the CIE Color Rendering Index (CRI), using not only Ra but also the special color rendering indices Ri as well…

Color temperature tunable white-light light-emitting diode clusters with high color rendering index.

The experimental results show that the WW/R/G/B cluster can realize CCT tunable white light with high CRIs but lower luminous efficacies (below 65 lm/W), and that the NW/R/, neutral-white, and NW/r/g/B clusters can realizes CCT Tunable whiteLight with highCRIs, as well as high luminousefficacies.

Evaluation of Color Rendering Index for LED and Fluorescent Light Sources

In order to assess the performances of different color rendering index (Ra, CRI, CQS, nCRI, R96a). The LED (light-emitting diode), fluorescent light sources and 30 printed color samples were used in

White-light LED clusters with high color rendering.

The experimental results show that white/red LED clusters can realize color temperature untunable white light with a high color rendering index and high luminous efficacy and that neutral-white/red/blue LED cluster can realizes color temperature tunable whiteLight with ahigh color rendering Index and high Luminous efficacy.

Colorimetry and efficiency of white LEDs: Spectral width dependence

The potential colour rendering capability and efficiency of white LEDs constructed by a combination of individual red, green and blue (RGB) LEDs are analysed. The conventional measurement of colour

Analysis of Property for White and RGB Multichip LED Luminaire

Characteristics of LED luminaire white LED and RGB multichip LED are described and research work is in progress to develop an improved performance for optic and electrical works well for two type of LED Luminaires.

Optimal spectra of the phosphor-coated white LEDs with excellent color rendering property and high luminous efficacy of radiation.

The optimal spectra of p-W LEDs with correlated color temperatures (CCTs) of 2700-6500 K have been obtained with a nonlinear program for maximizing luminous efficacy of radiation (LER) under conditions of both color-rendering indices (CRIs) and special CRIs of R9 strong red above 98.

Psychophysical evaluations of various color rendering from LED-based architectural lighting

This research investigated the hypothesis that a significant range of color distortions would be unnoticeable under such dynamically controlled illumination, especially outside of users' main field of view, and confirmed the fundamental hypothesis.

LED white lights with high CRI and high luminous efficacy

The models for spectra of a phosphor-coated white (p-W) LED and a white light LED cluster are developed based on the principle of additive color mixture. The simulation results show that p-W LEDs

Healthy lighting design with low retinal blue light hazard

For light source, color rendering index (CRI), luminous efficacy of radiation (LER), correlated color temperature (CCT) are important characteristics. Considering the potential retinal blue light

Toward an improved color rendering metric

Recommendations to modify the Color Rendering Index that would overcome flaws in the CRI are developed, including a new computation scheme for determining the color rendering score that differentiates between hue and saturation shifts and takes their directions into account.

Color rendering properties of LED light sources

A laboratory human factors experiment was conducted to understand the color rendering properties of various LED-based reading lights. Human subjects rated their preference for a given scene

Color Rendering: Asking the Question

Two white lights may have the same chromaticity, and yet when used to light an array of objects may differ in their ability to reveal colors. For example, any white light can be matched by a mixture

Visual clarity and feeling of contrast

The visual clarity of a lighting environment is significantly affected by changing the general color rendering index (Ra) of its illumination. This effect has been studied by a number of researchers,

A Validation of the Color-Preference Index
