A group that makes better decisions than its individual members is considered to exhibit collective intelligence (CI. [] Key Result We also found that the system performed better when trading decisions were based on input from larger groups, suggesting that CI rather than individual intelligence was responsible for the system's overall good performance. Further testing is needed to see if these results will hold up over a longer period of time and with more participants.

Expert identification and calibration for collective forecasting tasks

TLDR
An approach to define objectively levels of expertise in large groups in a panel setting is introduced to fine-tune panel members’ contribution to the compound forecast in an attempt to improve the accuracy of the aggregated forecast.

"Deliberated Intuition for Groups": An Explanatory Model for Crowd Predictions in the Domain of Stock-Price Forecasting

TLDR
An empirical study in the form of a two-phase, sequential mixed-methods experiment, which led to an explanatory model, which is introduced as ‘deliberated intuition for groups’.

Composite Forecasting Strategy Using Seasonal Schemata

TLDR
A new method for forecasting (a composite forecasting strategy using seasonal schemata) that learns a seasonal schema made up of different forecasting methods and uses this schema to create a combined forecast.

Self-serving incentives impair collective decisions by increasing conformity

The average judgment of large numbers of people has been found to be consistently better than the best individual response. But what motivates individuals when they make collective decisions? While

This study aims to explore whether wine CI (Collective Intelligence) platforms, such as Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, can provide a wine rating effect on price, as Robert Parker’s does in the

Smartocracy: Social Networks for Collective Decision Making

TLDR
The Smartocracy network data structures, the suite of collective decision making algorithms currently supported, and the results of two collective decisions regarding the design of the system are discussed.

Talking Nets : exploring a multi-agent , connectionist model of distributed communication and cognition

TLDR
The project aims to further test and develop the new " Talking Nets " simulation model of distributed cognition, a relatively simple and apparently powerful in predicting known effects, but its assumptions and implications are broad, abstract and complex, requiring extensive further testing and exploration.
