Collaboration in Routing and Power Management Function for Selfish Power Off in Mobile Ad hoc Networks

Abstract

To achieve safe, reliable communications in mobile ad hoc networks, various researches such as secure routing, packet forwarding, and secure key distribution and management are being studied. The ultimate aim is to achieve secure and reliable communication in mobile ad hoc network. One user characteristic, turning terminals off selfishly, leads to decrease in network performance due fewer routes and this issue is not addressed by existing papers. In this paper, we define a new selfish behavior, selfish power off; we verify its influence on system performance. Additionally, we propose collaboration in routing and power management functions to mitigate this issue and show the effectiveness of our proposal by simulations.
