Using the technique of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) we have coherently transferred ultracold (87)Rb(2) Feshbach molecules into a more deeply bound vibrational quantum level. Our measurements indicate a high transfer efficiency of up to 87%. Because the molecules are held in an optical lattice with not more than a single molecule per lattice site, inelastic collisions between the molecules are suppressed and we observe long molecular lifetimes of about 1 s. Using STIRAP we have… Expand

Interacting Feshbach Molecules
This thesis reports on experiments with ultracold atomic and molecular quantum gases. Magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances are used to associate diatomic molecules from atomic 87Rb in aExpand
We investigate theoretically the preparation of ultracold photoassociated Cs2 molecules in the lowest vibrational level of the ground electronic state via the stimulated Raman adiabatic passageExpand
Optical Pumping and Vibrational Cooling of Molecules
A broadband femtosecond laser is applied that redistributes the vibrational population in the ground state via a few electronic excitation/spontaneous emission cycles and observes a fast and efficient accumulation in the lowest vibrational level, ν = 0, of the singlet electronic state. Expand
Ultracold Rubidium Molecules
This thesis describes experiments with ultracold diatomic molecules associated from ultracold 87Rb atoms using magnetically-induced scattering resonances (Feshbach resonances). The association methodExpand
Optical trapping and Feshbach spectroscopy of an ultracold Rb-Cs mixture

Quantum Gas of Deeply Bound Ground State Molecules
The results show that the preparation of a quantum gas of molecules in specific rovibrational states is possible and that the creation of a Bose-Einstein condensate of moleculesIn their rovibronic ground state is within reach. Expand
Precision molecular spectroscopy for ground state transfer of molecular quantum gases.
The results show that coherent ground state transfer for Cs2 is possible using a maximum of two successive two-photon STIRAP processes or one single four-phorescence stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) process. Expand
