We observed coarse-scale (1-100 km) distributions of hydromedusae in two locations in Japanese waters, the Osaka Bay-Kii Channel area and the Tokyo Bay-Sagami Bay area in early sum mer. Hydromedusan assemblages, defined by cluster analysis, were divided into several groups in both areas. Distributions of the assemblages were fitted to those of water masses defined by T-S dia grams.
