This paper describes the implementation of an association analysis method to process Web site data. The association analysis makes use of Web site links in order to produce a representation of sites association structure. A description of the association network is the goal to reach. The data refers to 791 university sites from the 15 countries belonging to the European Union. The purpose is to perform the analysis of implicit associations discovered from this sample. In order to realize it, we…

An exploration of link-based knowledge map in academic web space
TLDR
This paper proposes an integrated model for exploring the subject macrostructure of a specific academic topic on the Web and automatically depicting the knowledge map that is closer to what a domain expert would expect and shows the effectiveness of the integrated model in analyzing and portraying of subject clustering phenomenon in academic web space.
Why Do Web Sites from Different Academic Subjects Interlink?
TLDR
The results suggest that mapping disciplinary collaboration on the Web should be feasible but that this process and topic identification in academic Webs would both be helped by the prior removal of key higher education teaching and popular general pages from the data set.
Hyperlink Analyses of the World Wide Web: A Review
TLDR
It is concluded that hyperlinks are a highly promising but problematic new source of data that can be mined for previously hidden patterns of information, although much care must be taken in the collection of raw data and in the interpretation of the results.
Finding similar academic Web sites with links, bibliometric couplings and colinks
A study of the interlinking between Asia-Pacific University Web sites
TLDR
It was found that Australia and Japan were nevertheless clearly at the heart of the Web in the region, with Australia being a particularly common target of links and Japan having a more balanced profile of ingoing and outgoing hyperlinks.
Webometrics
TLDR
One response to this view, a view shared by critics of evaluative bibliometrics, is to demonstrate that Web data correlate significantly with some non-Web data in order to prove that the Web data are not wholly random.
Interlinking between Asia-Pacific University Web sites
TLDR
It was found that Australia and Japan were nevertheless clearly at the heart of the Web in the region, with Australia being a particularly common target of links and Japan having a more balanced profile of ingoing and outgoing hyperlinks.
Co-Link and Co-Authorship: Confluence of Webometrics and Scientometrics
TLDR
The use of co-link as a new indicator in evaluating subject similarities among scientific websites as well as checking the correlation between co- link & co-authorship are used.
A university-centred European Union link analysis
TLDR
The results show the expected EU dominance of the large richer Western European nations, particularly the UK and Germany, and the new EU countries are not yet integrated into the EU web but some show strong regional connections.

Mining the Web's Link Structure
TLDR
Clever is a search engine that analyzes hyperlinks to uncover two types of pages: authorities, which provide the best source of information on a given topic; and hubs, which provides collections of links to authorities.
Thematic mapping on bibliographic databases by cluster analysis: a description of the SDOC environment with SOLIS
TLDR
A coword-analysis-based system called SDOC is presented which is able to support the intellectual work of an end-user who is searching for information in a bibliographic database by presenting its thematical structure as a map of keyword clusters (themes) on a graphical user interface.
Web mining research: a survey
TLDR
This paper surveys the research in the area of Web mining, point out some confusions regarded the usage of the term Web mining and suggest three Web mining categories, which are then situate some of the research with respect to these three categories.
Cognitive Resemblance and Citation Relations in Chemical Engineering Publications.
In this study we have measured word‐profile similarities between citing and cited publications, as well as between publications citing specific highly cited papers. This “cognitive resemblance” was
Digital Libraries and Autonomous Citation Indexing
TLDR
Digital libraries incorporating ACI can help organize scientific literature and may significantly improve the efficiency of dissemination and feedback and speed the transition to scholarly electronic publishing.
Knowledge Discovery in Databases: An Overview
TLDR
This talk defines the basic notions in data mining and KDD, defines the goals, present motivation, and gives a high-level definition of the KDD Process and how it relates to Data Mining, and focuses on data mining methods.

L'analyse des associations est une forme d'analyse statistique s'appliquant a des domaines ouverts, ou les methodes classiques, telle l'analyse factorielle, seraient inapplicables. Elle se fonde sur
Bayesian Classification (AutoClass): Theory and Results
TLDR
It is emphasized that no current unsupervised classi cation system can produce maximally useful results when operated alone and that it is the interaction between domain experts and the machine searching over the model space that generates new knowledge.
