We calculate the two-photon ionization of clusters for photon energies near the surface plasmon resonance. The plasmon is described in a schematic jellium-RPA model assuming a separable residual interaction between electrons determined so that the plasmon energy is reproduced. The ionization rate of a double plasmon excitation is calculated perturbatively. In ${\mathrm{Na}}_{93}^{+}$ clusters we find an ionization rate of the order of at most \$0.05\char21{}0.10 {\mathrm{fs}}^{\ensuremath{-}1…

### Ionization of metallic clusters via multi-plasmon excitation

• Physics
• 2003
Theoretical study of the ionization of sodium clusters by an intense laser pulse with a photon energy close to the surface plasmon resonance is presented. The proposed model describes the resonance

### Lifetime of the first and second collective excitations in metallic nanoparticles

• Physics

We determine the lifetime of the surface plasmon in metallic nanoparticles under various conditions, concentrating on the Landau damping, which is the dominant mechanism for intermediate-size

### REVIEWS OF TOPICAL PROBLEMS: The evolution of large clusters under the action of ultrashort superintense laser pulses

• Physics
• 2000
The evolution of large clusters exposed to a superintense ultrashort laser pulse is considered. Cluster excitation results from the interaction of its electron subsystem with the laser field.

### Quantum dissipation and decoherence of collective excitations in metallic nanoparticles

Les nanoparticules metalliques sont un laboratoire ideal pour l'etude des correlations electroniques dans la transition entre les systemes microscopiques et macroscopiques. En consequence, leurs

### Few Related Applications and Brief Review of Experimental Results

The concept of band gap measurement in the presence of intense external light waves is also discussed and we present additional five related applications in this context. Besides, the experimental

### Few Related Applications

This chapter contains twenty eight applications of the DRs as presented for various HD materials and their quantized counterparts as investigated in this book. The Sect. 20.3 contains 1 multi
