Abstract The cluster expansions for the pair distribution function of a system not in equilibrium obtained in a previous paper are compared with the known expansions for a system in equilibrium. The connection between the expansions is established. Also the relation between the cluster expansions of distribution functions and the B-B-G-K-Y-hierarchy for a system in equilibrium are investigated. In particular the connection between the hierarchy and the Mayer equations is treated.
