We investigate the dynamics of clumps embedded in and confined by the advection-dominated accretion flows (ADAFs), in which collisions among the clumps are neglected. We start from the collisionless Boltzmann equation and assume that interaction between the clumps and the ADAF is responsible for transporting the angular momentum of clumps outward. The inner edge of the clumpy-ADAF is set to be the tidal radius of the clumps. We consider strong- and weak-coupling cases, in which the averaged… Expand

Dynamics of an ensemble of clumps embedded in a magnetized ADAF
We investigate effects of a global magnetic field on the dynamics of an ensemble of clumps within a magnetized advection-dominated accretion flow by neglecting interactions between the clumps andExpand
The profiles of Fe K α line from the inhomogeneous accretion flow
The clumpy disc, or inhomogeneous accretion flow, has been proposed to explain the properties of accreting black hole systems. However, the observational evidences remain to be explored. In thisExpand

Multiphase, non-spherical gas accretion on to a black hole
We investigate non-spherical behaviour of gas accreting on to a central supermassive black hole. Assuming optically thin conditions, we include radiative cooling and radiative heating by the centralExpand

Multiphase environment of compact galactic nuclei: the role of the nuclear star cluster
We study the conditions for the onset of Thermal Instability in the innermost regions of compact galactic nuclei, where the properties of the interstellar environment are governed by the interplay ofExpand
Radiative efficiency of hot accretion flows
Over the past few years, our understanding of hot accretion flows has been improved significantly by two findings: (i) only a small fraction of the accretion flow available at the outer boundary canExpand
Comparison of Ejection Events in the Jet and Accretion Disc Outflows in 3C 111
We present a comparison of the parameters of accretion disc outflows and the jet of the broad-line radio galaxy 3C 111 on subparsec (sub-pc) scales. We make use of published X-ray observations ofExpand

Advection-dominated Accretion: A Self-similar Solution
We consider viscous rotating accretion flows in which most of the viscously dissipated energy is stored as entropy rather than being radiated. Such advection-dominated flows may occur when theExpand
Spectrum of Optically Thin Advection-dominated Accretion Flow around a Black Hole: Application to Sagittarius A*
The global structure of optically thin advection-dominated accretion flows composed of two-temperature plasma around black holes is calculated. We adopt the full set of basic equations, including theExpand
Self-similar Solution of Optically Thick Advection-dominated Flows
The photons released by the viscosity process in a disk with accretion rate exceeding the Eddington critical value will be trapped and restored as entropy in the accreting gas rather than beingExpand
Scaling Laws for Advection-dominated Flows: Applications to Low-Luminosity Galactic Nuclei
We present analytical scaling laws for self-similar advection-dominated flows. The spectra from these systems range from 108 to 1020 Hz and are determined by considering cooling of electrons throughExpand
The Structure of the Central Disk of NGC 1068: A Clumpy Disk Model
NGC 1068 is one of the best-studied Seyfert II galaxies, for which the black hole mass has been determined from the Doppler velocities of water maser. We show that the standard α-disk model of NGCExpand
The Association of Jet Production with Geometrically Thick Accretion Flows and Black Hole Rotation
A model is presented in which the strongest radio-emitting jet outflows are produced in black hole systems when the accretion is a geometrically thick (H/R ~ 1) inflow (e.g., an advection-dominatedExpand
Three-dimensional radiative transfer modeling of AGN dusty tori as a clumpy two-phase medium
