We give a complete numerical description of the geometry of the four-point contact interaction of closed bosonic string field theory. Namely, we compute the boundary of the relevant region of the moduli space of the four-punctured spheres, and everywhere in this region we give the local coordinates around each punctures in terms of a Strebel quadratic differential and mapping radii. The numerical methods are explained in details. And the results are translated into fits, which can in principle…

Closed bosonic string field theory at quintic order: five-tachyon contact term and dilaton theorem

We solve the geometry of the closed string field theory five-point vertex. Our solution is calculated in terms of quadratic Strebel differentials which are found numerically all over the relevant

A tachyon lump in closed string field theory

We find a codimension one lump solution of closed bosonic string field theory. We consider vertices up to quartic order and include in the string field the tachyon, the ghost dilaton, and a metric

Hyperbolic geometry and closed bosonic string field theory. Part II. The rules for evaluating the quantum BV master action

The quantum Batalian-Vilkovisky master action for closed string field theory consists of kinetic term and infinite number of interaction terms. The interaction strengths (coupling constants) are

Closed bosonic string field theory at quintic order II: marginal deformations and effective potential

We verify that the dilaton together with one exactly marginal field, form a moduli space of marginal deformations of closed bosonic string field theory to polynomial order five. We use the results of

One loop tadpole in heterotic string field theory

We compute the off-shell 1-loop tadpole amplitude in heterotic string field theory. With a special choice of cubic vertex, we show that this amplitude can be computed exactly. We obtain explicit and

A closed string tachyon vacuum

In bosonic closed string field theory the ``tachyon potential" is a potential for the tachyon, the dilaton, and an infinite set of massive fields. Earlier computations of the potential did not

The nonperturbative closed string tachyon vacuum to high level

We compute the action of closed bosonic string field theory at quartic order with fields up to level ten. After level four, the value of the potential at the minimum starts oscillating around a

One loop tadpole in heterotic string field theory

A bstractWe compute the off-shell 1-loop tadpole amplitude in heterotic string field theory. With a special choice of cubic vertex, we show that this amplitude can be computed exactly. We obtain

String field theory solution for any open string background. Part II

Generalizing previous work, we give a new analytic solution in Witten’s open bosonic string field theory which can describe any open string background. The central idea is to use Riemann surface

Quantum Closed Superstring Field Theory and Hyperbolic Geometry I: Construction of String Vertices

The complete quantum theory of closed superstrings is constructed using string diagrams endowed with metric having constant curvature $-1$. The elementary string diagrams are equipped with the

CLOSED STRING TACHYONS ON C/ZN

We analyze the condensation of closed string tachyons on the C/ZN orbifold. We construct the potential for the tachyons up to the quartic interaction term in the large N limit. In this limit there

Fermionic subspaces of the bosonic string

A universal symmetric truncation of the bosonic string Hilbert space yields all known closed fermionic string theories in ten dimensions, their D-branes and their open descendants. We highlight the

Heterotic string field theory

We construct the Neveu-Schwarz sector of heterotic string field theory using the large Hilbert space of the superghosts and the multi-string products of bosonic closed string field theory. No

Twisted tachyon condensation in closed string field theory

We consider twisted tachyons on /N orbifolds of bosonic closed string theory. It has been conjectured that these tachyonic instabilities correspond to decays of the orbifolds into flat space or into

Off-shell interactions for closed-string tachyons

Off-shell interactions for localized closed-string tachyons in C/Z{sub N} superstring backgrounds are analyzed and a conjecture for the effective height of the tachyon potential is elaborated. At
