A cDNA clone isolated from an Arabidopsis thaliana cell suspension culture library showed considerable similarities to the proteasome 28 kDa alpha subunit of Drosophila [(1990) Gene 90, 235-241]. The 250 amino acid-long protein encoded by Arabidopsis TAS-g64 clone has important homologies in its primary structure and in the predicted secondary structure with the PROS-28.1 clone from Drosophila.
