A Japanese hydrangea phyllody (JHP) disease found throughout Japan causes economic damage to the horticultural industry. JHP phytoplasma-infected Japanese hydrangea plants show several disease symptoms involved in floral malformations, such as virescence, phyllody and proliferation.
