A novel cDNA encoding a putative Ser/Thr protein kinase was isolated from a human skeletal muscle cDNA library. It contains an open reading frame that extends from nt 104 to 1510 and codes for a protein of 469 amino acids. A catalytic domain containing the conserved residues of the Ser/Thr protein kinase, especially human ribosome protein S6 kinase (RSK), was found to be located in the C-terminal end of the deduced protein.
