Survivin is an inhibitor of apoptosis and is upregulated by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) latent genes. Given the frequent association of EBV with lymphoid malignancies, survivin is expected to have prognostic value in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
