From 1989 through 1998, a total of 132 children admitted to the National Taiwan University Hospital were identified as having Kawasaki disease. Twenty (15%) of them did not meet the diagnostic criteria of Kawasaki disease, but were considered atypical Kawasaki based on the specific clinical signs and exclusion of other causes by serologic study and culture result.
