Splenic extramedullary hematopoiesis is an integral component of myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia (MMM) and may be classified into 3 distinct histologic patterns of infiltration by myeloid precursors: diffuse, nodular, and a predominance of immature granulocytes.
