Abstract: The efficacy and safety of tolmetin sodium in the management of ankylosing spondylitis are presented in a review of published and unpublished data. In both open and controlled clinical studies, tolmetin was superior to placebo and equal to indomethacin in its capacity to relieve pain, inflammation, and other symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Objective and subjective assessments showed that both tolmetin sodium and indomethacin provided significant therapeutic benefits to…

Ankylosing spondylitis: an overview
TLDR
Emerging biological therapies target the inflammatory processes underlying AS, and thus, may favourably alter the disease process, in addition to providing symptom relief.
Therapeutics of Ibuprofen in Rheumatic and Other Chronic and Painful Diseases
TLDR
There is evidence to show that ibuprofen is a safe and effective ‘first-line’ NSAID for many rheumatic patients and mostly it is preferable to paracetamol in osteoarthritis.

TLDR
A nkylosing spondylitis is a chronic systemic inflammatory rheumatic disorder of uncertain aetiology that primarily affects the axial skeleton (sacroiliac joints and spine) that generally persists for many decades, rarely entering a long term remission.
Selecting Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs: Pharmacologic And Clinical Considerations
TLDR
This review presents a listing of commercially availableNSAIDs, cost comparisons for average daily doses of NSAIDs, and the conditions and drug characteristics that might influence the choice of an NSAID.
Selected β2-, β3- and β2,3-Amino Acid Heterocyclic Derivatives and Their Biological Perspective
TLDR
This review highlights the actual state of knowledge about β-amino acid moiety-containing heterocycles presenting antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial compounds, anaplastic lymphoma kinase inhibitors, as well as agonist and antagonists of the receptors.
The effect of polyaromatic hydrocarbons on the spectral and photophysical properties of diaryl-pyrrole derivatives: an experimental and theoretical study.
TLDR
It is shown that, with the exception of the anthracene derivative, the diaryl-pyrrole moiety strongly influences the spectral and photophysical properties of the PAH and that the excited state internal conversion deactivation channel of the Diaryl- pyrrole derivatives is higher than that of their PAH counterparts.

Evaluation of tolmetin in the treatment of active chronic rheumatoid arthritis open and controlled double-blind studies

TLDR
No significant alterations of blood and urine glucose values could be found in comparison to placebo, and it can be assumed that there is no interaction between these two substances.
Results of a One‐Year Trial of Tolmetin in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis
TLDR
It is indicated that tolmetin affords symptomatic relief of rheumatoid arthritis and its use results in global improvement in 80 per cent of the patients, and a net improvement in one or more of the parameters used to assess disease activity.
Ankylosing Spondylitis

Its preponderance in young adult males, however, results in a higher incidence among Service personnel, in which category most young men find themselves for two years, at a time when they are under as close medical supervision as they are ever likely to be under.
