We explore the nature of orbits of stars moving in the meridional plane $(R,z)$ of an axially symmetric galactic model with a disk, a spherical nucleus, and a flat biaxial dark matter halo component. In particular, we study the influence of all the involved parameters of the dynamical system, by computing both the percentage of chaotic orbits and the percentages of orbits of the main regular resonant families in each case. To distinguish between ordered and chaotic motion, we use the smaller…
Orbit classification of low and high angular momentum stars
Orbital and escape dynamics in barred galaxies – I. The 2D system
In this paper we use the two-dimensional (2D) version of a new analytical gravitational model in order to explore the orbital as well as the escape dynamics of the stars in a barred galaxy composed
Orbit properties of massive prolate galaxies in the Illustris simulation
We explore orbit properties of 35 prolate-triaxial galaxies selected from the Illustris cosmological hydrodynamic simulation. We present a detailed study of their orbit families, and also analyse
Order and chaos in a three dimensional galaxy model
Self-consistent triaxial models
We present self-consistent triaxial stellar systems that have analytic distribution functions (DFs) expressed in terms of the actions. These provide triaxial density profiles with cores or cusps at
Orbital dynamics in realistic galaxy models: NGC 3726, NGC 3877 and NGC 4010
En el presente trabajo, utilizando una generalización del potencial de Miyamoto-Nagai, se ajustan las curvas de rotación observadas de tres galaxias espirales a las velocidades circulares analiticas.
Effective potentials and orbits in Weyl slender disk
By using geodesic equations to obtain a gravitational potential generated from an initially point-like source, we end up in the concept of a nearly Newtonian gravity to analyse effective potentials
A Detailed Example: Galactic Dynamics
We have seen the impact of the presence of chaos in a given dynamical system. Furthermore, the analysis of the finite-time Lyapunov exponent distributions allows the computation of the predictability

Unveiling the Influence of Dark Matter in Axially Symmetric Galaxies
Abstract We investigate the regular or chaotic nature of orbits of stars moving in the meridional plane (R, z) of an axially symmetric galactic model with a dense, massive spherical nucleus and a
Determining the nature of orbits in disk galaxies with non-spherical nuclei
We investigate the regular or chaotic nature of orbits of stars moving in the meridional plane (R,z) of an axially symmetric galactic model with a flat disk and a central, non-spherical and massive
The evolution of chaos in active galaxy models with an oblate or a prolate dark halo component
The evolution of chaotic motion in a galactic dynamical model with a disk, a dense nucleus and a flat biaxial dark halo component is investigated. Two cases are studied: (i) the case where the halo
Orbit classification in the meridional plane of a disk galaxy model with a spherical nucleus
We investigate the regular or chaotic nature of star orbits moving in the meridional plane of an axially symmetric galactic model with a disk and a spherical nucleus. We study the influence of some
The structure of motion in a 4-component galaxy mass model
We use a composite galaxy model consisting of a disk-halo, bulge, nucleus and dark-halo components in order to investigate the motion of stars in ther-z plane. It is observed that high angular
Dark halos acting as chaos controllers in asymmetric triaxial galaxy models
We study the regular or chaotic character of orbits in a 3D dynamical model, describing a triaxial galaxy surrounded by a spherical dark halo component. Our numerical experiments suggest that the

Models for the Gravitational Field of the Galactic Bar: An Application to Stellar Orbits in the Galactic Plane and Orbits of Some Globular Clusters
We built three models for the gravitational field of the Galactic bar. These models are an inhomogeneous ellipsoid, an inhomogeneous prolate spheroid, and a superposition of four inhomogeneous
Orbits in barred galaxies
We study ordered and chaotic orbits in barred galaxies. Both types of orbits are important in constructing self-consistent models. We have developed two new criteria for characterizing ordered and
