In these proceedings we present a complete classification of all one‐ and two‐dimensional orbifold compactifications. Our study is based on the classification of crystallographic space groups. There exist two 1D and seventeen 2D orbifolds. Many of them have so far not been considered for the compactification of higher‐dimensional string or quantum field theories. We determine the most general parities for each of the orbifolds and construct the corresponding basis functions.

Dark matter and localised fermions from spherical orbifolds?
A bstractWe study a class of six-dimensional models based on positive curvature surfaces (spherical 2-orbifolds) as extra-spaces. Using the Newman-Penrose formalism, we discuss the particle spectrumExpand
A dark matter candidate from Lorentz invariance in 6D
We study the unique 6 dimensional orbifold with chiral fermions where a stable dark matter candidate is present due to Lorentz invariance on the orbifold, with no additional discrete symmetriesExpand
Notes on S-folds and N$$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 3 theories
A bstractWe consider D3 branes in presence of an S-fold plane. The latter is a non-perturbative object, arising from the combined projection of an S-duality twist and a discrete orbifold of theExpand
N=3$$ \mathcal{N}=3 $$ four dimensional field theories
A bstractWe introduce a class of four dimensional field theories constructed by quotienting ordinary N=4$$ \mathcal{N}=4 $$ U(N ) SYM by particular combinations of R-symmetry and SL(2, ℤ)Expand
6d Dirac fermion on a rectangle; scrutinizing boundary conditions, mode functions and spectrum
Abstract We classify possible boundary conditions of a 6d Dirac fermion Ψ on a rectangle under the requirement that the 4d Lorentz structure is maintained, and derive the profiles and spectrum of theExpand
CP violation from pure gauge in extra dimensions
A bstractOne of the Sakharov’s condition for baryogenesis is the violation of both C and CP. In the Standard Model, gauge interactions break maximally C, but CP is only broken through the YukawaExpand
Effective Models of new physics at the Large Hadron Collider
With the start of the Large Hadron Collider runs, in 2010, particle physicists will be soon able to have a better understanding of the electroweak symmetry breaking. They might also answer to manyExpand
Gauge-Higgs Unification with Broken Flavor Symmetry
We study Gauge-Higgs unification model on the orbifold $S^{1}/Z_{2}$ based on the extended SM gauge group $G_{SM}^{ex}=SU(2)_{L} \times U(1)_{Y} \times SO(3)_{F}$. The group $SO(3)_{F}$ is treated asExpand

We classify possible boundary conditions of a 6d Dirac fermion Ψ on a rectangle under the requirement that the 4d Lorentz structure is maintained, and derive the profiles and spectrum of the zeroExpand
Current LHC Constraints on Minimal Universal Extra Dimensions
Abstract In this letter, we present LHC limits on the minimal universal extra dimension (MUED) model from LHC Run 1 data and current limits from searches of the ongoing Run 2. Typical colliderExpand

Crystallographic orbifolds: towards a classification of unitary conformal field theories with central charge c = 2
We study the moduli space 2 of unitary two-dimensional conformal field theories with central charge c = 2. We construct all the 28 nonexceptional nonisolated irreducible components of 2 that may beExpand
Higgs mechanism in heterotic orbifolds
We study spontaneous gauge symmetry breaking in the framework of orbifold compactifications of heterotic string theory. In particular, we investigate the electroweak symmetry breakdown via the HiggsExpand
Quantum corrections to non-Abelian SUSY theories on orbifolds
Abstract We consider supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theories coupled to hyper multiplets on five and six dimensional orbifolds, S 1 / Z 2 and T 2 / Z N , respectively. We compute the bulk and localExpand
Quantization and high energy unitarity of 5D orbifold theories with brane kinetic terms
Five-dimensional field theories compactified on an S1/Z2 orbifold naturally include local brane kinetic terms at the orbifold fixed points at the tree as well as the quantum level. We study theExpand
Orbifold compactifications of string theory
The compactification of the heterotic string theory on a six-dimensional orbifold is attractive theoretically, since it permits the full determination of the emergent four-dimensional effectiveExpand
Chiral compactification on a square
We study quantum field theory in six dimensions with two of them compactified on a square. A simple boundary condition is the identification of two pairs of adjacent sides of the square such that theExpand
TASI Lectures on Extra Dimensions and Branes
This is a pedagogical introduction into theories with branes and extra dimensions. We first discuss the construction of such models from an effective field theory point of view, and then discussExpand
Probing Minimal 5D Extensions of the Standard Model

Grand unification in the projective plane
A 6-dimensional grand unified theory with the compact space having the topology of a real projective plane, i.e., a 2-sphere with opposite points identified, is considered. The space is locally flatExpand
Exceptional coset spaces and unification in six dimensions
Abstract The coset spaces E 8 /SO(10)×H F allow complex structures which can account for three quark–lepton generations including right-handed neutrinos. We show that in the context of supersymmetricExpand
