We numerically compute renormalized expectation values of quadratic operators in a quantum field theory (QFT) of free Dirac fermions in curved two-dimensional (Lorentzian) spacetime. First, we use a staggered-fermion discretization to generate a sequence of lattice theories yielding the desired QFT in the continuum limit. Numerically-computed lattice correlators are then used to approximate, through extrapolation, those in the continuum. Finally, we use so-called point-splitting regularization…

Hamiltonian Formulation of Wilson's Lattice Gauge Theories
- Physics
- 1975
Wilson's lattice gauge model is presented as a canonical Hamiltonian theory. The structure of the model is reduced to the interactions of an infinite collection of coupled rigid rotators. The…
Cosmological Event Horizons, Thermodynamics, and Particle Creation

It is shown that the close connection between event horizons and thermodynamics which has been found in the case of black holes can be extended to cosmological models with a repulsive cosmological…
Finitely correlated states on quantum spin chains

We study a construction that yields a class of translation invariant states on quantum spin chains, characterized by the property that the correlations across any bond can be modeled on a…

We investigate the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) discovered by White and show that in the case where the renormalization eventually converges to a fixed point the DMRG ground state can…

In the massless minimally coupled case it is proved that there exists no de Sitter-invariant Fock vacuum state, however one can find Fock states which are E(3) invariant.
Thermodynamic limit of density matrix renormalization.
- PhysicsPhysical review letters
- 1995
It is shown that quantum states in the thermodynamic limit with periodic boundary conditions can be represented by a ``matrix product ground state'' with a natural description of Bloch states of elementary excitations and can be rederived through a simple variational ansatz making no reference to a renormalization construction.
The density-matrix renormalization group

The density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) is a numerical algorithm for the efficient truncation of the Hilbert space of low-dimensional strongly correlated quantum systems based on a rather…
