An aerobic chemoheterotrophic gliding bacterium, designated RYG(T), was isolated from a soil in Germany. Cells were Gram-stain-negative, thin rods (0.4-0.6 µm in width and 2.0-5.5 µm in length). Cells multiplied by normal cell division and no resting stages were observed. Colonies were yellow and displayed swarming edges. Gliding motility was observed in wet mounts. Strain RYG(T) grew at pH 5.6-7.7 (optimum pH 6.6-7.0), at 13-37 °C (optimum 25-30 °C) and with 0-1.0 % NaCl (optimum 0-0.1 %). The… Expand

Exploring the Potential of Micrococcus luteus Culture Supernatant With Resuscitation-Promoting Factor for Enhancing the Culturability of Soil Bacteria
TLDR
It is shown that a Micrococcus luteus culture supernatant containing resuscitation-promoting factor (SRpf) can effectively enhance the growth of soil bacterial species, including those hitherto uncultured. Expand
Analysis of 1,000 Type-Strain Genomes Improves Taxonomic Classification of Bacteroidetes
TLDR
While a significant degree of phylogenetic conservation was detected in all phenotypic characters investigated, the overall fit to the tree varied considerably, which is one of the probable causes of misclassifications in the past, and underline the pitfalls inherent in phylogenies based upon single gene sequences. Expand
Evolution of microbial community during dry storage and recovery of aerobic granular sludge
TLDR
Variations in microbial community compositions were investigated during dry storage and recovery of Aerobic granular sludge, aiming to elucidate the mechanism of granular stability loss and recovery. Expand
