Since recurrence rates have been reduced to a few per cent with mesh repairs, outcome research in groin hernia repair has recently focused on chronic pain. Chronic pain adversely affects daily life for 5–10 per cent of patients1, and pain-related sexual dysfunction, including dysejaculation, occurs in about 2 per cent of young men2.
