Chronic morphine augments protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation of G(beta), which enhances the potency of G(betagamma) to stimulate adenylyl cyclase II (ACII) activity. The present study demonstrates an in vivo association between phosphorylated G(beta) and a specific PKC isoform, PKCgamma.
