THE 28 chromosome wheat species Triticum timopheevi has attracted interest on account of its reported cytological behaviour and its application to the genome concept. Lilienfeld and Kihara (i) had examined the F, hybrids between tetraploid wheat species. They had found that the hybrids involving timopheevi differed from the rest, were normally sterile, and had poor chromosome pairing.
