The effect of colchicine-induced chromosome doubling on phenotypic characters of Pearl millet,Pennisetum typhoides, is described and the mutagenic effect of colchicine preliminarily indicated.Meiosis in the raw tetraploids was characterized by a high frequency of multivalents, mostly quadrivalents.
