Fixed methaphase chromosomes of Salmo trutta were treated with different restriction enzymes. Each enzyme produces a specific banding pattern which demonstrates the value of restriction enzymes for chromosome banding in this species. Digestion with Alul, Ddel, Haelll, Hinfl and Mbol indicated the existence of different classes of highly-repetitive DNA.
