The timber production potential of a given site (site quality) is measured by the site index, which is defined as the dominant height of a stand at an index age. A study was undertaken to investigate the appropriate index age for site index determination of Gmelina arborea timber plantations in Oluwa forest reserve in south-western Nigeria, managed on 20 years rotation.
