An ATP- and temperature-dependent transfer of monogalactosylglycerides from the chloroplast envelope to the chloroplast thylakoids was reconstituted in a cell-free system prepared from isolated chloroplasts of garden pea (Pisum sativum) or spinach (Spinacia oleracea).
