The aim of this in vitro study is to prepare and characterize drug free and pentamidine loaded chitosan glutamate coated niosomes for intranasal drug delivery to reach the brain through intranasal delivery. Mucoadhesive properties and stability testing in various environments were evaluated to examine the potential of these formulations to be effective drug delivery vehicles for intranasal delivery to the brain. Samples were prepared using thin film hydration method. Changes in size and…
Antimicrobial Essential Oil Formulation: Chitosan Coated Nanoemulsions for Nose to Brain Delivery
TLDR
Chitosan coated NEs showed to be a potential and effective intranasal formulation against multi-drug resistant Gram-negative bacteria such as methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus and multi- drug resistant Gram -negative microorganisms including carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Niosomes: Potential Nanocarriers for Drug Delivery
TLDR
The present review provides an overview about the advantages and disadvantages, fabrication techniques, types, characterization technique, and different applications of niosomes about the delivery of drugs via niosomal formulations.
Preparation of Casein Biopeptide-Loaded Niosomes by High Shear Homogenization and Their Characterization.
TLDR
The aim of this study was to develop a niosomal system to deliver milk bioactive peptides with potential for enhanced bioavailability and high-performance liquid chromatography spectra of peptides in the niosomes and the free peptides were similar, thus confirming their entrapment into the niosisomes.
Co-encapsulation of Curcumin and Boswellic Acids in Chitosan-Coated Niosome: An In-vitro Digestion Study.
AIM In this study chitosan-coated niosome (ChN) was utilized for bioavailability enhancement of curcumin (Cn) and boswellic acids (BAs). METHODS The bare niosome (BN) was prepared by the heating
Hydrophilic Silver Nanoparticles Loaded into Niosomes: Physical–Chemical Characterization in View of Biological Applications
TLDR
Two systems were functionalized with sodium 3-mercapto-1-propanesulfonate to induce hydrophilic behavior, improving loading in Tween 20 and Span 20 niosomes and suitable and promising in the field of biological applications are concluded.
Intranasal Delivery of Genistein-Loaded Nanoparticles as a Potential Preventive System against Neurodegenerative Disorders
TLDR
Genistein-loaded chitosan nanoparticles for intranasal drug delivery are designed and characterized by the ionic gelation technique by using sodium hexametaphosphate and showed a pH consistent with the nasal fluid and preserved PC12 cell vitality.
Characterization and distribution of niosomes containing ursolic acid coated with chitosan layer
TLDR
It can be concluded that the ratio of Span® 60-cholesterol-UA highly affected niosomes physical properties and that the addition of chitosan improved the stability and drug release as well as oral biodistribution of Nio-UA.

Influence of chitosan glutamate on the in vivo intranasal absorption of rokitamycin from microspheres.
TLDR
In vivo studies showed that, after IV administration, RK is not able to cross the blood-brain barrier and to reach the CSF from the bloodstream, and drug goes to theCSF and the bloodstream only after nasal administration of CG microparticles.
DLS Characterization of Non-Ionic Surfactant Vesicles for Potential Nose to Brain Application
TLDR
Preparing and characterization of hybrid niosomes by Tween 20 and Tween 21 together with dicetyl phosphate or Span 20 and the cationic polyelectrolyte chitosan are described in order to obtain intranasal drug delivery systems.

Effect of different types of surfactants on the physical properties and stability of carvedilol nano-niosomes
TLDR
It may be concluded that nanoniosomes are promising stable carriers for the oral delivery of carvedilol because of their high transition temperature and solid state feature of these surfactants.

TLDR
Oil-in-water nanoemulsion (NE) formulations containing various cationic and nonionic surfactants for use as adjuvants for the intranasal delivery of vaccine antigens suggest that biophysical measurement of the mucoadhesive properties of emulsion based vaccines constitutes an effective in vitro strategy for selecting NE candidates for further evaluation in vivo as mucosal adjuvant.
