A bstractWe discuss the low-energy physics which arises on stacks of squashed brane solutions of SU(N ) N=4$$\mathcal{N}=4$$ SYM, deformed by a cubic soft SUSY breaking potential. A brane configuration is found which leads to a low-energy physics similar to the standard model in the broken phase, assuming suitable VEV’s of the scalar zero modes. Due to the triple self-intersection of the branes, the matter content includes that of the MSSM with precisely 3 generations and right-handed…

We consider SU(N) N = 4 super Yang-Mills with cubic and quadratic soft SUSY breaking potential, such that the global SU(4)R is broken to SU(3) or further. As shown recently, this set-up supports a

In this article, we explore the low energy structure of a $U(3)$ gauge theory over spaces with fuzzy sphere(s) as extra dimensions. In particular, we determine the equivariant parametrization of the
Emergent gravity on covariant quantum spaces in the IKKT model
A bstractWe study perturbations of 4-dimensional fuzzy spheres as backgrounds in the IKKT or IIB matrix model. Gauge fields and metric fluctuations are identified among the excitation modes with

We develop a systematic approach to determine and measure numerically the geometry of generic quantum or ‘fuzzy’ geometries realized by a set of finite-dimensional Hermitian matrices. The method is
Covariant 4-dimensional fuzzy spheres, matrix models and higher spin

We study in detail generalized 4-dimensional fuzzy spheres with twisted extra dimensions. These spheres can be viewed as SO(5)-equivariant projections of quantized coadjoint orbits of SO(6). We show

On the 1-loop effective action for the IKKT model and non-commutative branes

We study the one-loop effective action of the IKKT or IIB model on a 4dimensional non-commutative brane background. The trace–U(1) sector is governed by non-commutativity, and leads — assuming no

We study N=1 gauge theories obtained by adding finite mass terms to N=4 Yang-Mills theory. The Maldacena dual is nonsingular: in each of the many vacua, there is an extended brane source, arising

Starting with a $\mathcal{N} = 4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions with gauge group SU(3N) we perform an orbifold projection leading to a $\mathcal{N} = 1$ supersymmetric
Wess-Zumino term in the $\mathcal{N} = 4$ SYM effective action revisited

The low-energy effective action for the $\mathcal{N} = 4$ super Yang-Mills on the Coulomb branch is known to include an SO(6)-invariant Wess-Zumino (WZ) term for the six scalar fields. For each

Abstract We discuss the appearance of non-supersymmetric compactifications with exactly the Standard Model (SM) at low energies, in the context of IIB orientifold constructions with D5-branes
