We study the low energy dynamics of pions in a gravity dual of chiral symmetry breaking. The string theory construction consists of a probe D7 brane in the Constable-Myers nonsupersymmetric background, which has been shown to describe chiral symmetry breaking in the pattern of QCD. We expand the D7 brane's Dirac-Born-Infeld action for fluctuations that correspond to the Goldstone mode and show that they take the form of a nonlinear chiral Lagrangian. We numerically compute the quark condensate… Expand
Chiral symmetry breaking from five-dimensional spaces
Abstract Based on the AdS/CFT correspondence we study the breaking of the chiral symmetry in QCD using a simple five-dimensional model. The model gives definite predictions for the spectrum of vectorExpand
Quark Mass in the Sakai-Sugimoto Model of Chiral Symmetry Breaking
We re-analyze D8 brane embeddings in the geometry of a D4 brane wrapped on a circle that describe chiral symmetry breaking in a strongly coupled non-supersymmetric gauge theory. We argue that if theExpand
Criticality, scaling and chiral symmetry breaking in external magnetic field
We consider a D7-brane probe of AdS5 × S5 in the presence of pure gauge B-field. The dual gauge theory is flavored Yang-Mills theory in external magnetic field. We explore the dependence of theExpand
Brane Embeddings and Chiral Symmetry Breaking
We study the embedding of D7 brane probes in five geometries that are deformations of AdS 5 × S 5. Each case corresponds to the inclusion of quark fields in a dual gauge theory where we areExpand

Scalar effective potential for D7 brane probes which break chiral symmetry
We consider D7 brane probes embedded in deformed AdS5 × S5 supergravity backgrounds which are non-supersymmetric in the interior. In the context of the generalised AdS/CFT correspondence, theseExpand
Chiral symmetry breaking as open string tachyon condensation
Abstract We consider a general framework to study holographically the dynamics of fundamental quarks in a confining gauge theory. Flavors are introduced by placing a set of (coincident) branes andExpand
Chiral dynamics and meson with non-commutative dipole field in gauge/gravity dual

Delocalization from anomaly inflow and intersecting brane dynamics
We study intersecting D-brane models, that describe at low energies a two dimensional chiral fermion theory localized at the intersection. The fermions are coupled to gauge fields in the bulk. TheExpand
NGN, QCD 2 and chiral phase transition from string theory
We construct a D2-D8-8 configuration in string theory, it can be described at low energy by two dimensional field theory. In the weak coupling region, the low energy theory is a nonlocalExpand

Adding flavor to AdS/CFT
Coupling fundamental quarks to QCD in the dual string representation corresponds to adding the open string sector. Flavors therefore should be represented by space-time filling D-branes in the dualExpand

TLDR
It is shown that in strongly coupled N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills conformal theory the binding energy of a heavy and a light quark is independent of the strength of the coupling constant, and the analog of the QCD string can snap and color charges are screened. Expand
