Recent studies suggest that bone marrow (BM)-derived chemotactic mediators such as chemokines play key roles in hematopoietic stem cell trafficking. Lipid mediators, particularly leukotrienes, are involved in leukocyte chemotaxis during inflammation but have also been detected in the normal BM.
